So this was one of those impulsive/whimsical acquisitions one makes at an event - in this case at the African Business Forum.
The purchase was partly inspired by the color of the bag - love the reddish hue! The understated style and size was also a factor - petite and chic. As an engineer, I loved several qualities of the bag:
The material's tactile quality: Soft & luxurious.
Equally impressive was the craftsmanship; the stitching, folds, creases, folds and blending/transition points. The magnet has just enough force to snap shut the flap without being irritating: Absolutely well done!
I recently completed a packaging project that used the same box configuration that Olori uses for my Tola ("my Tola:-)) so the combination rigid + folding aspects of the box caught my attention.
Ms. Tomide Awe was - well "awesome"! (I know - cheesy):-) and that I run into someone I met at last year's event; who also happens to be an African businesswoman - also offering a bag albeit with completely different functionalities - proved to be the tipping point!
All told, I have bought bags that cost 10-20x what I paid for my Tola with the one difference being the brand/name of the former because in terms of quality - material and craftsmanship - one can barely see the difference.
I certainly do NOT see the difference between my Tola and the many other petite shoulder bags that fetch $1,500 - $3,000 a piece.
Well done Ms. Awe and all the best.
Oh and one last point: The bag is Made in Africa (forget the country:-()
I am so in love with the Tola Legend. This is such a beautiful and well made bag. The customer service is awesome! And to top it all off this amazing brand is in support of women and making a positive impact! What’s not to love?
My Olori Tola Legend is the perfect handbag. It’s just the right size for everyday use without unnecessary bulk. It has a crisp, neat look that makes it easy to wear dressed up or casual, and the craftsmanship is top notch. Aside from the bag itself being beautiful, the business model at Olori was an equally motivating selling point for me. Knowing Olori supports women in both the production process and charitably is heartwarming. I love that Olori is creating positive changes globally. Thank you!
